Job description

Who we are

CirrusMD, now part of Quantum Health, is redefining virtual care through a Physician-first Care & Guidance solution that meets patients at their moment of need. Our text-based and web app connects patients with licensed physicians in under a minute, enabling care that is convenient, continuous, and personalized. Available 24/7/365, CirrusMD delivers integrated care across acute, chronic, and behavioral health needs. Serving more than 10 million members nationwide through employers and health plans, we are proud to expand our impact as part of Quantum Health—combining innovative virtual care with industry-leading healthcare navigation to create a more connected, member-centered experience.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer (React/TypeScript/Rails) to join our engineering team to contribute to our mission of redefining the healthcare experience for patients and providers. As a senior engineer at CirrusMD, you’ll be responsible for delivering high value products and end-user experiences while improving yourself and those around you each day. You will be a vital part of our core platform team, focused on delivering performant web experiences for patients and providers throughout the duration of a virtual visit.

We are an engineering-driven organization. Your primary focus will be driving client-side excellence using modern frontend frameworks, architecting robust, scalable backend services that power them. Our tech stack includes modern versions of Ruby on Rails, React, React Native, Swift, Kotlin, and TypeScript, with some Python, Go, and other technologies mixed in. A career with CirrusMD is an opportunity to work with some of the best and brightest minds, disrupt the healthcare industry, and greatly impact millions of lives by enhancing a scaling platform.

Location: This position may work remotely anywhere in the United States of America.

What you’ll do (Essential Responsibilities)

  • Lead the technical vision, and delivery of high-performance APIs and end-user experiences using Ruby on Rails and React for our patient and provider applications.
  • Actively contribute to our evolving software development and testing standards to level up technical excellence across the team.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to create high-impact features, balancing great UX with clean code complexity.
  • All other duties assigned.

What you’ll bring (Qualifications)

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in IT, MIS, CS or equivalent, or similar experience.
  • Experience: 7+ years of building and shipping scalable web applications across the full software stack.
  • Experience with React, TypeScript, and modern UI patterns, with a focus on web performance and responsiveness.
  • Strong professional experience building backend systems, designing clean APIs (GraphQL/REST), and establishing efficient data-fetching models.
  • Proficient in writing SQL for relational databases (PostgreSQL).
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing at all layers (RSpec, React Testing Library, Cypress, Playwright).
  • Proficiency with modern deployment pipelines (CI/CD, GitHub Actions).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an iterative Agile environment to deliver continuous business value with minimal direction.
  • Excellent problem-solving, and communication skills with ability to articulate complex technical trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotation to support platform reliability outside of standard working hours.
  • Commitment to protect user data by following data security, privacy, and ethical technology practices.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent and ongoing future basis without requiring sponsorship.

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience leading complex projects, driving architectural choices, and aligning cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with modern Ruby on Rails and advanced JavaScript ecosystems.
  • Experience making large-scale frontend design decisions or configuring build tooling from scratch.
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding tools (Copilot, Gemini, Claude).
  • Prior experience in healthcare and building integrations in the broader US health system.
