Engineering Technician - Fabrication & Development
What Will You Do?
The Engineering Technician - Fabrication & Development is responsible for building prototypes, tooling, fixtures, equipment, and related systems in support of engineering and manufacturing objectives. This role works closely with engineers to translate concepts into functional solutions while providing practical manufacturing input throughout the development process.
In addition to fabrication responsibilities, this position identifies opportunities for improvement and develops practical solutions to engineering and production challenges. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who contributes to both the construction and development of solutions that improve products, processes, and equipment.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Fabricate prototypes, fixtures, tooling, and equipment from engineering drawings and concepts.
  2. Collaborate with engineers during equipment and process development.
  3. Design and implement solutions to improve manufacturing processes and equipment.
  4. Operate fabrication and machining equipment safely and effectively.
  5. Troubleshoot manufacturing and equipment issues.
  6. Assist in the troubleshooting and general maintenance of hot runner injection molding tools.

What Makes You a Great Catch?
  1. Typically requires two (2) years prior related experience.
  2. High school education required.
  3. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to build, troubleshoot, and improve equipment and processes.
  4. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  5. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineering, maintenance, and production teams.

Your Work Environment:
This position operates in a manufacturing and engineering development environment where hands-on work is a daily part of the role. The Engineering Technician will regularly utilize fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly equipment while supporting product and process development initiatives. The role requires working both independently and collaboratively across multiple departments to achieve project objectives.
The work environment includes exposure to manufacturing equipment, moving machinery, noise, and varying temperatures typical of an industrial setting. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices are required at all times.
What You will Need to Succeed:
  1. Required:
    1. Proficiency with common fabrication, machining, and assembly equipment, including welding, cutting, forming, drilling, milling, turning, grinding, and hand tools.
    2. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical prints, and specifications.
    3. Mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills.
    4. Ability to interpret functional requirements and develop practical, creative solutions to manufacturing, tooling, equipment, and process challenges.
    5. Ability to evaluate multiple solution approaches and recommend practical implementation strategies.
    6. Ability to communicate concepts, designs, and technical solutions effectively with engineers, technicians, and production personnel.
  2. Preferred:
    1. Experience creating and modifying 3D CAD models and technical drawings.
    2. Experience designing fixtures, tooling, or manufacturing equipment.
    3. Experience with injection molding processes and hot runner tooling.
