Become a part of the Commerce Ordering team! As a Lead Software Engineer, you will play a key role in eliciting requirements, collaborate with architects and technical leads to drive technology solutions, and serve as a technical liaison for commerce-web team. Additionally, you will serve a key role in mentoring and developing the engineering team.
Location: Hybrid (Lakeland, FL): To support our hybrid work model, candidates must reside, or be willing to relocate, within a commutable distance of Lakeland, FL.

Your Impact:
  • Lead the design, development, troubleshooting, and support of complex labor management applications and cloud-native solutions.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, product owners, and analysts to gather requirements and deliver secure, scalable technology solutions.
  • Architect and implement complex technical solutions while providing technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams.
  • Monitor and optimize Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) workloads, resolving application and infrastructure performance issues.
  • Conduct code reviews, facilitate knowledge sharing, and mentor experienced software engineers.
  • Manage project planning, execution, and implementation activities to ensure successful delivery.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between business areas, technology teams, and support partners, including after-hours support when needed.

Year End Bonus
As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month's extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related analytical field or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of hands-on software development experience delivering enterprise applications (design, development, and end-to-end delivery), with a proven track record leading complex, cross-team initiatives
  • 5+ years of expert-level proficiency in .NET and C# (including .NET 8+), with deep experience in ASP.NET Core, Web API, and MVC, and a strong grounding in OOP, SOLID principles, and design patterns.
  • 5+ years designing and building microservices, RESTful APIs, and event-driven/distributed systems, including resiliency patterns, observability, scalability, and high availability.
  • 5+ years of experience with SQL, database design, and the use of ORM frameworks (such as Dapper or Entity Framework) to develop efficient and scalable across data stores such as Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and Azure Cosmos DB
  • 2+ years of experience designing, developing, and deploying scalable cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure using modern cloud architecture patterns and platform services.
  • 1+ years of experience monitoring and troubleshooting application workloads deployed to Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), identifying performance bottlenecks and collaborating with DevOps teams to resolve infrastructure-related issues.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues in distributed systems
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability with a focus on delivering high-quality code

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum environments collaborating closely with Product Owners and Scrum Masters
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills; proven ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement
  • Hands-on experience with modern frontend frameworks (React, Next.js, or Blazor) integrated with backend APIs
  • Experience using logging and diagnostic tools in Azure to discover, diagnose, and solve problems.
  • Experience building highly scalable systems and performance tuning them.
  • Regular use of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Clean Architecture for enterprise-scale solutions
  • Test automation background (unit, integration, end-to-end/load testing) using frameworks such as xUnit, Selenium, and Robot, with a commitment to high coverage and maintainable test suites
