Job description

Used Car ManagerExperience is Required
$180,000 - $240,000 Performance-Driven Potential Income
Excellent Benefits & Career Growth!

An established automotive dealership in the New Orleans area is seeking an experienced, hands-on Used Car Manager to lead its pre-owned operation.
This is a leadership role for someone who understands a successful used-car department starts with buying the right vehicles, structuring profitable deals, and keeping inventory moving. The ideal candidate is experienced, decisive, analytical, customer-focused, and willing to take ownership of the entire used vehicle inventory lifecycle.

What You'll Own

Vehicle Acquisition:

  • Proactively source and acquire quality pre-owned vehicles.
  • Evaluate trades and purchase opportunities based on market demand, vehicle condition, and profitability.
  • Use current market data to make disciplined appraisal and acquisition decisions.
  • Maintain an inventory mix that fits dealership objectives and local market demand.

Desking & Deal Structure:

  • Desk used vehicle deals with a focus on customer experience, gross profitability, and deal quality.
  • Partner closely with the sales team to structure competitive, executable deals.
  • Provide clear direction to sales consultants and managers throughout the deal process. Balance closing opportunities with protecting dealership profitability.

60-Day Inventory Turn:

  • Maintain a disciplined 60-day inventory turn strategy.
  • Monitor aging inventory daily and take action before vehicles become problems.
  • Make pricing, merchandising, wholesale, and acquisition decisions based on inventory performance.
  • Identify aged or underperforming inventory and establish a clear exit strategy.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Review used inventory, pricing, market position, and aging every day.
  • Support accurate and competitive trade appraisals.
  • Ensure vehicles are priced appropriately for current market conditions.
  • Partner with sales leadership on used-vehicle performance and opportunities.
  • Coach the sales team on used inventory, deal structure, and trade opportunities.
  • Maintain strong awareness of market conditions and competitor pricing.
  • Hold yourself and the team accountable for inventory performance.

We're Looking For

The right candidate understands that used-car management is more than managing a lot. You should be comfortable buying vehicles, making appraisal decisions, structuring deals, analyzing inventory, and taking action when something isn't performing.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Automotive retail management experience.
  • Strong experience with used vehicles, appraisals, and acquisitions.
  • Proven ability to desk and structure automotive deals.
  • Strong understanding of inventory aging and turn.
  • Ability to make decisions using both market data and dealership performance.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • High level of ownership, urgency, and accountability.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced dealership environment.

Success in this role means:

  • We consistently acquire vehicles that make sense for our market.
  • Deals are structured competitively and profitably.
  • Aging inventory is identified and addressed early.
  • Used inventory maintains a disciplined 60-day turn.
  • The sales team has a Used Car Manager who is engaged, accessible, and decisive.

Full-time Benefits:

  • $180,000 - $240,000 performance-driven potential income
  • Medical, dental and vision insurance
  • 401(k) plan
  • Paid time off
  • Employee discounts
  • And much more!

Ready to Lead?

If you're a used-car leader who knows how to buy inventory, desk deals, make smart appraisal decisions, and keep vehicles moving, apply today and join in our success!
