HDR is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Montana Power Delivery team. As a Senior Project Manager, you will be joining a highly capable, multi-disciplined team that supports power and energy projects within the industrial, institutional, municipal, IPP and utility power and energy industry. The Senior Project Manager will be a seller-doer who helps maintain client relationships, brings in projects, develops strategies and plans for performing the work, monitors and communicates status of the project, and leads multi-disciplined project teams to successful completion of the work. This role requires significant client interaction (from pre-positioning for the work through project completion) and strong verbal and written communication skills as needed for regular interaction with internal staff such as project team members, marketing staff, and operations leadership. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with both high voltage substation and transmission line systems, as well as proven ability to plan, schedule, and lead complex design and consulting assignments.
Responsibilities include:
  • Direct and coordinate work of single or multidiscipline teams throughout the project's lifecycle (from development & initiation to close-out)
  • Responsible for all aspects of large multidiscipline projects or medium-sized projects with high degree of technical complexity, involving a large project staff
  • Produce and coordinate several projects concurrently
  • Establish and maintain client relations, and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings
  • Conduct work sessions for deliverable development in conjunction with other staff and stakeholders
  • Coordinate staffing and workload through entire project life cycle, and ensure completion of deliverables on schedule
  • Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to budget and schedule
  • Work with the Accounting, Operational and Business leadership for periodic project reviews
  • Implement QA/QC procedures
  • Supervise large projects staff and act as mentor for less-experienced Project Managers
  • Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree
  • PMP certification
  • Familiar with Primavera P3 or SureTrak software
  • Familiar with Prolog software
  • Experience leading Engineer/Procure/Construct (EPC) contracts or other Alternative Delivery models

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 10 years related experience
  • A minimum 5 years project management experience
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • MS Office and MS Project experience (Access experience would be plus)
  • Demonstrated leadership, business development and strategic planning skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
