• Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the pool and surrounding areas
• Enforce all facility rules and regulations in a consistent and respectful manner
• Respond quickly and effectively to all emergencies, providing appropriate care according to certification and training
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning duties, including water quality checks, equipment organization, and facility tidiness
• Attend all scheduled in-service trainings and maintain lifeguard and CPR/AED certifications
• Complete all required reports including incident, accident, and rescue documentation
• Assist with set-up and break-down of equipment for special events, swim meets, or rentals
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, patrons, and other staff members
• Serve as a positive ambassador for Campus Recreation and the Aquatic Center.
Job Profile
Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Performs a variety of tasks in support of Campus Recreation sports and facilities. May be responsible for operational support, member services, event management, social media management, equipment management, and/or ensuring a safe experience for patrons. Certification may be required for certain positions.
Level Summary
Performs basic tasks and assists with administrative or operational duties under supervision. Roles are entry-level and aimed at providing exposure to workplace environments.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Limited supervisory responsibilities. May supervise other student workers.
Fiscal Responsibilities:
No budgetary responsibility.
Problem Solving:
Addresses routine, well-defined problems under supervision.
Independence of Action:
Works under close supervision.
Communication and Collaboration:
Communicates primarily with supervisor and peers. Collaborates with team members to accomplish tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
Enrolled for classes at Ohio University, Hocking College, another post-secondary education institution, or a secondary school during the current semester, immediate previous semester, or immediate upcoming semester. Able to follow instructions and complete tasks within deadlines. Basic knowledge of office software and communication tools. Departments may have specific minimum requirements.
