Title: Sr. Associate Manager, Finance

Employee Status: Regular Full Time

Work From Home Option: Hybrid - 2 Days/Week (40% Remote)

FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Overview

Reporting to the Senior Director – Finance, Sr. Associate Manager, Finance will have the responsibility to own & analyze the overall financial performance of the New York Racing Association as well build financial models to manage enterprise forecast, budget, cash, and other key elements of the company’s financials. The incumbent will also partner cross functionally with the business leaders to help them quantify the impact of business strategies as well as help them in identifying new revenue generating ideas and cost cutting initiatives. This individual will also work with and assist the FP&A and accounting team with the preparation and filing of periodic reports.

Essential Functions
  • Own and manage the enterprise P&L and cash forecast throughout the year including reviewing any significant variances. Assist the Senior Director, Finance in preparing month and quarter end reporting materials for the executive team and the board.
  • Develop the annual operating budget for the enterprise as well build multi-year P&L and cash budgets.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly financial reporting and material for external updates.
  • Manage and update the P&L views in several different formats (track P&L, daily P&L, event P&L).
  • Own and manage the purse cushion forecast for the racing department.
  • Collaborate with the functional department heads in analyzing revenue generating and cost cutting initiatives across the enterprise.
  • Analyze daily wagering data and prepare a daily handle report for internal distribution.
  • Prepare monthly and other periodic reports that analyze wagering activity and revenues, handle and meets.
  • Analyze and interpret data and trends related to handle revenue, sponsorships, ticketing, concession, and other on track racing related revenue.
  • Manage a daily revenue report during the Saratoga meet while coordinating with multiple department heads for necessary data.
  • Support the finance team on any treasury or tax needs such as processing a banking transaction or completing quarterly estimated or statutory tax payments.
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance financial reporting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Assist in preparation of other ad-hoc projects, as required.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably accounting, finance or economics major.
  • Experience: A minimum of 6-8 years of experience in accounting/finance preferred.
  • Racing Experience: Thoroughbred horse-racing knowledge is highly preferred.
  • Other Requirements: General understanding of finance and/or FP&A fundamentals.
Desired Qualifications
  • Analytical and creative minded when it comes to interpreting data and trends.
  • Ability to complete tasks within set deadlines.
  • Excellent computer skills including using Microsoft suite of products such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. SAP and Payroll/Benefit related software knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills, sound judgement, and ability to operate independently.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.

Ability to read on-screen and printed documents and communicate effectively by phone and in person.

Pay Range / Salary: $90,000 - $105,000 per year
