Job description

Our client — a well-rooted, privately owned agricultural company based in California's Central Valley — is seeking a Finance Director (International Finance). Over the past two decades, this organization has evolved from a local farming business into a fully integrated, globally active enterprise encompassing cultivation, packaging, and worldwide distribution. The company maintains a substantial revenue footprint and agricultural investments spanning multiple regions across the Americas and internationally.

As the organization's global reach continues to grow across new farming territories and sales channels, this senior leadership position plays a pivotal role at the crossroads of international finance and agricultural business operations. The successful candidate will act as the vital link connecting the executive team with international agricultural and commercial teams — delivering financial discipline, strategic perspective, and hands-on operational awareness to a purpose-driven company in active growth mode.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, guide, and work alongside regional finance teams to establish consistency, operational efficiency, and shared best practices throughout the organization.
  • Direct international financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting across a portfolio of global regions and legal entities.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to provide financial intelligence and evidence-based recommendations that shape strategic direction.
  • Shape and implement global financial strategies aligned with the company's international operations, growth ambitions, and margin objectives.
  • Oversee financial risk management including foreign currency exposure, international investment activity, multi-entity governance, and regulatory adherence across various jurisdictions.
  • Contribute to mergers, acquisitions, and additional cross-border business ventures as needed.
  • Guarantee precise and timely financial reporting that meets international accounting standards and relevant local statutory requirements.
  • Act as the primary financial point of contact between corporate leadership and international farming and sales operations across a range of global markets.

Requirements

Required:

  • Proven ability to lead and drive results in a multicultural, multinational setting.
  • Full professional fluency in both English and Spanish (written and verbal).
  • Extensive experience in international finance, accounting, and senior financial leadership.
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or a closely related discipline; a graduate degree is preferred.
  • Deep familiarity with ERP platforms, cross-border tax frameworks, and foreign exchange risk management.
  • Background in agriculture, food production, or vertically integrated grower-packer operations.
  • Strong capabilities in analysis, communication, and creative problem-solving.
  • A demonstrable history of overseeing global financial operations, cross-border capital deployment, and complex multi-entity organizational structures.

Preferred:

  • Experience working within a privately held company culture where interpersonal trust, strong relationships, and personal accountability define how business gets done.
  • Hands-on exposure to international farming or agribusiness operations spanning multiple geographic regions.

Benefits

  • Flexible and comprehensive benefits package
  • Attractive salary range of $150K–$200K, commensurate with experience
