    Job description


    This is a temporary position.
    JOB SUMMARY
    As part of Marriott's Fire Protection & Life Safety (FLS) team, the Sr. Fire Protection Project Manager supports Marriott's commitment to protecting guests, associates, and assets across the U.S., Canada, and CALA. The position provides fire protection and life safety expertise, along with project management oversight, for new hotels, conversions, acquisitions, and renovations. Working closely with cross-functional teams and external partners, the role ensures compliance with Marriott standards and applicable fire and life safety codes throughout the design and construction process, supporting safe, compliant, and successful hotel development and operations.
    CANDIDATE PROFILE
    Education and Experience
    Required
    • 10+ years progressive experience in fire protection
    • BS in Fire Protection Engineering or equivalent experience
    • Fire department and construction project management experience
    • Working knowledge of construction means and methods, facilities operations, and contracting. Strong knowledge of NFPA standards and International Building Code
    • Experience performing drawing reviews and construction document reviews relating to fire protection and life safety

    Preferred
    • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Professional Engineering (PE) license

    CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
    • Manage assigned new build and conversion projects (owned, managed, and franchised) from feasibility to opening by tracking milestones including meetings, construction document reviews, and property inspections and testing within the Americas.
    • Responsible for delivery of high-quality engineering support services to business units within Global Design, Lodging, Development, Operations, Brand, Lodging Engineering, Risk Management, Ownership Franchise Services and various other Marriott businesses.
    • Perform digital design reviews for egress, building construction, automatic sprinkler, fire alarm, and mechanical smoke control systems to ensure compliance of Marriott standards, system performance, equipment selection, constructability, maintainability, building code conformance, and sequencing.
    • Attend kick-off, design, and construction meetings representing FLS.
    • Conduct virtual and on-site construction support services including fire protection system project control functions (change-order analysis and schedule impacts), cost reduction analysis, submittal reviews, mid-construction site review and report, transition planning (construction to operations), and acceptance testing.
    • Discuss with supervisor and team members fire protection and life safety issues or problems that have high financial impact.
    • Remain current with emerging technologies, national codes and best methods for automatic sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, life safety, and smoke control.
    • Assist in the building of team core values of integrity, accountability, respect, and value.
    • Willingness to travel (70-75%).
