Summary

JOB SUMMARY:
 
Responsible for providing comprehensive outpatient psychiatric and/or substance use disorder assessment and treatment to a variety of patients in multiple programmatic settings. This position is community-based, with approximately 80% of the position working in the community.
  • Provides both initial and ongoing psychiatric evaluation to patients. Interviews patients on admission to clinical program; obtains complete psychiatric, substance use disorder and medical health history and assesses the extent of patient disability or disturbance.
  • Collaborates with psychiatrist to formulate diagnostic impression. Provides ongoing assessment of the patient throughout the course of treatment.
  • Provides psychiatric and/or substance use disorder treatment to patients.
  • Develops and implements initial treatment plan in collaboration with the psychiatrist.
  • Functions as a primary therapist, providing direct treatment, utilizing individual, group or family psychotherapy and crisis intervention techniques as clinically indicated. In collaboration with physician, monitors and evaluates the use of medications. Coordinates care of patient with necessary resources.
  • In collaboration with psychiatrist, assigns patients to appropriate level of care as determined by patient need.
  • Works collaboratively with physicians, specialty clinics, and other social and community agencies, advocating for patients when appropriate and referring to the internal case manager and/or other treatment facility and/or community resource as indicated.
  • Documents all work as dictated by regulating agencies and insurance carriers.
  • Maintains and updates patient records; documents information regarding patient status and progress in accordance with departmental policy and peer review standards.
  • Completes all paperwork and on-line submission of clinical information necessary for charge reimbursement in a timely and comprehensive manner.
  • Educates others regarding psychiatric and/or substance abuse issues and treatment.
  • Stays abreast of current trends in field.
  • Provides educational and consultative services to hospital personnel, students and the community.
  • Provides clinical supervision to assigned staff. Engages in personal development activities.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master's Degree in Social Work or Clinical Counseling
  • Current MD License as a LGPC or LMSW required; LCPC/LCSW-C license preferred
  • Current BLS Provider Certification from the American Heart Association
  • Current Driver's License in MD required
  • Requires approval by our Fleet Safety Department to operate vehicles owned by LifeBridge Health
