Streets Maintenance Worker /CDL TraineePerform manual labor in the maintenance of county roads. Maintenance duties vary by district and may include shoveling, raking, and sweeping asphalt. Perform traffic control duties such as flagging and sign placement, culvert maintenance, and snow plowing. Operate light and medium equipment. Position requires availability to respond to emergencies and snow removal operations 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by reporting to an assigned shop within one hour of being called.

Road & Bridge has 9 shops that cover 4 districts within Jefferson County, including locations at:

Essential duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assistin performing road maintenance operations, including repaving roads, filling potholes, applying crack-seal, repairing concrete, street sweeping,maintaininggutters and drainage, gravel road maintenance, and snow removal from county-maintained roadways.

  • Perform snow removal operationsutilizinglight and heavy equipment.

  • Operate equipment and tools as necessary, such as mower, chain saw, and hand tools.

  • Perform equipment and vehicle pre/post-trip inspections as defined by federal guidelines and inspect other items affecting safe operations.

  • Assistwith inspecting and preparing all equipment for safe use by performing routine maintenance. Prepare equipment for specific uses by making necessary modifications. Plan and request maintenance service and repair for specific equipment.

  • Perform other general maintenance duties, routine cleaning, lubricating and minor maintenance, as necessary.

MinimumRequirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Must be at least 18 years old by hire date.

  • Valid Driver's License for 2 consecutive years prior to hire date. If from out of state,mustobtain a Colorado Driver's License within 30 days of hire.

  • May berequiredto obtain a Class B or A Colorado Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker endorsement and air brake restriction removed as well as a valid Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card within 12 months of hire.

  • Must obtain Flagger Certification within 3 months of hire.

  • Respond to emergencies and snow removal operations 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and reportto an assigned shop within one hour of being called.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with road construction or maintenance

  • Experience with asphalt operations

  • Experience with public works

  • To beconsideredyou must not have any major violations, and no more than one DUI, DWI, DWAI conviction in the past three years.

  • Must provide a valid Commercial Driver's License and DOT medical card, and current copy of your full CDLIS Motor Vehicle Record at the time of interview, if you currently hold a CDL.

  • Jefferson County adheres to pre- and post-employment drug testing regulations for positions requiringa CDL. In following Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Jefferson Countyis required tocontactpreviousemployers to obtain information on past alcohol and drug testing.

  • Jefferson County adheres to all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, including FMCSA rule 391.11 (b) (2): Can read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with thegeneral public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.
