This is a contract role expected to last 90 days.


As Marketing Manager, you will be a strategy leader for the ISSA organization. You will work collaboratively with internal divisions and external partners to identify strategies, develop marketing plans, and implement tactics that support ISSA’s business objectives. You will partner with communications and design colleagues to create compelling campaigns and promotions designed to reach target audiences and convince them to act. You have effective project management skills plus the ability to think and write creatively. You take initiative, are deadline-oriented, and can work in a consistently changing environment.


This contract position will have specific responsibility for ISSA’s media sales, advocacy, healthcare, membership, and WSA divisions.


Duties and Responsibilities
  • Meet regularly with ISSA division leads to determine goals, assess needs, and set direction for marketing and communication strategies.
  • Develop and execute strategic marketing plans, including identifying key audience segments and project budget elements.
  • Draft project briefs and lay out assignments for marketing initiatives and communications campaigns. Then, work on project elements in partnership and collaboration with the communications, branding, design, and information technology team members.
  • Manage all project steps within ISSA’s work management application and keep stakeholders informed of project updates and plan changes.
  • Continually monitor plan progress and measure the effectiveness of marketing activities, adjusting the activities if needed.
  • Ensure compliance with marketing best practices, provide quality assurance for projects, and identify process improvements.
Key Competencies
  • Strong project management capabilities, including how to ask probing questions, make good decisions with limited information available, and pivot in response to shifting priorities.
  • Ability to manage a variety of complex marketing and communication projects such as print pieces, email campaigns, webinars, video production, etc.
  • Proficient in goal setting, marketing planning, and project budgeting.
  • Excellent overall communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong copywriting skills, particularly for email, social media, and web.
  • Outstanding attention to detail, organization, and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with marketing analytics to measure the results of initiatives and campaigns.
  • Prior experience managing internal customers, external vendors, contract employees, and/or interns.
  • An independent work ethic combined with a collaborative approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to set realistic expectations with team leaders and to seek creative approaches/solutions for their needs.
Mandatory Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Marketing Manager (or equivalent role in marketing and communications) for a B2B, commercial, or industrial organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams. Familiarity with Adobe PDF software.
  • Prior experience using a project management software such as Asana.
  • Prior experience using Salesforce a plus.
Beneficial Qualifications
  • Experience working with trade associations or a similar not-for-profit environment a plus.
  • Knowledge of the cleaning, facilities management, and/or restoration industry a plus.
  • Prior experience in media sales would be helpful.
