Technology System Test Engineer

This position is not eligible for Qualcomm immigration sponsorship.

The Technology System Test Engineer tests and validates location technology systems spanning software and hardware components, including GNSS positioning, WWAN‑based location (LTE/NR), WLAN‑based positioning (Wi‑Fi), sensor‑based positioning, and geofencing solutions. The role interprets wireless, sensor, and positioning specifications to design and execute system‑level test plans, scenarios, scripts, and procedures.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Executes system‑level testing for location technologies including:
    • GNSS and assisted GNSS
    • WWAN‑based positioning
    • WLAN‑based positioning
    • Sensor‑based positioning, including inertial and motion‑assisted location
    • Multitechnology sensor‑fusion–based location solutions
  • Builds foundational understanding of end‑to‑end location systems, including interactions among GNSS, modem (WWAN), WLAN, sensors, middleware, and application layers.
  • Designs and executes test plans validating functional behavior, continuity, and stability of sensor‑assisted and fused location outputs.
  • Collects and analyzes logs, traces, sensor data, positioning outputs, and requirements to identify system‑level issues impacting:
    • Location accuracy
    • Availability and continuity
    • Transition behavior between GNSS, WWAN, WLAN, and sensors
  • Performs log and trace analysis across GNSS, WWAN, WLAN, and sensor subsystems to isolate root causes of positioning failures or drift.
  • Gathers and correlates information from multiple sources (sensor data, wireless logs, system traces) to troubleshoot integrated location stack issues.
  • Uses agentic AI tools to assist with:
    • Automated or semi‑automated execution of location system tests
    • Post‑processing of large sensor and wireless log datasets
    • Pattern detection, trend analysis, anomaly identification, and result summarization
  • Assists in validating that fixes or tuning changes correctly address sensor‑based or fused‑location issues without introducing regressions.
  • Identifies and documents defects related to sensor behavior, fusion stability, or interaction with GNSS/WWAN/WLAN positioning.
  • Executes basic field and lab tests involving walking, driving, indoor, and transition scenarios where sensor‑assisted positioning is exercised.
  • Communicates location system issues and results clearly to software, systems, and algorithm teams.
  • Manages individual test tasks, priorities, and deliverables with close supervision.
  • Coordinates with technical leads to confirm adequate coverage and execution time for sensor‑assisted and hybrid location validation.
  • Develops and maintains functional and system tests ensuring correct behavior of sensor‑based and multi‑technology location features.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
