Responsibilities

  • Monitor patients, ensuring safety and compliance with program protocols

  • Assess patients continually and communicate changes in acuity or physical state

  • Place orders to toxicology laboratories, blood analysis labs, and pharmacies

  • Receive and analyze laboratory results and communicate findings to Physicians or Nurse Practitioners

  • Take and record patient vital signs

  • Assess patient symptoms and report condition changes

  • Dispense medications as needed

  • Respond to medical emergencies and obtain physician orders

  • Screen patients upon admission to determine appropriateness

  • Supervise patient monitoring station or delegate to other staff

  • Monitor on-site narcotics to prevent theft or abuse

  • Lead patient community meetings as needed

  • Participate in Performance Improvement Committee meetings

  • Act as supervisor on duty in absence of managers

  • Assist in supervising Licensed Practical Nurses

  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with all team members and external agencies

Qualifications

  • AA, equivalent, or higher in Nursing required

  • Active state Licensed Practical Nursing License

  • 2+ years of experience in psychiatric nursing preferred

  • Chemical dependency treatment experience preferred

  • Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required

  • Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred

  • Certification in First Aid required

  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs

  • Personal passion or interest in substance abuse issues strongly preferred

  • Commitment to a drug-free lifestyle and responsible alcohol use is essential

  • Authorization to work in the US
