Job description

JOB SUMMARY:
Hog Slat, Inc. is the world's leading provider of parts, equipment and turn-key construction to the swine & poultry industries. Our Grower Select brand replacement parts & equipment are designed and tested by our in-house team of engineers. It is important that prior to distribution of those parts, they have been quality checked for accuracy.
The Quality Inspector will measure products to verify conformance to specifications. Tools used will include rulers, calipers, gauges and micrometers. He/she will inspect and mark materials as they arrive to ensure that they match purchase orders, report discrepancies and recommend necessary corrective action when problems are found.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other functions may be assigned as business conditions change.
  • Inspection of fabricated, electrical, molded, cast and coated products
  • Identification of quality issues and ability to take quick corrective action
  • Communicate quality control information to all relevant departments, outside vendors or contractors
  • Work with Purchasing and Engineering departments to ensure quality requirements and expectations are fully met.
  • Inspections and documenting results of inspections
  • Tracking of returned products, defects, test results and other regularly reported control data
  • Grade, classify and sort defective products
  • Collecting and maintaining quality data
  • Perform initial First Piece Inspections (FPI) on new products

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
The ideal candidate will have the following experience/educational background:
  • Working knowledge of Quality Systems and Principles
  • Working Knowledge of MS Office Software (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.)
  • Operating Knowledge of Test and Measurement Equipment like calipers & micrometers
  • Good mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Ability to read documentation and make complete fact-based decisions & root cause analysis
  • Ability to read and understand Blueprints and Wiring Diagrams
  • Understanding of product assembly drawings
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks effectively
  • Experience working in Lean System/Six Sigma environment preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in technical writing
