Summary
It is the responsibility of the Supervisor Rigging to supervise the day-to-day activities and operations of a work group. Supervise the day-to-day activities related to the strategy. May manage portions of a budget (such as labor). Professionally interacts with customers, team members, and third-party vendor/partner representatives to provide the highest level of service excellence. Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with all safety policies and regulations, holding self and team accountable, actively communicating safety expectations, and supporting continuous improvement in safety practices.
This position will support our Event & Exhibit Services team. The position follows an in-person schedule working full-time in-office and/or show-site based out of New Orleans, LA.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Study production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assign duties.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department, or crew.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintain time and production records.
  • Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials.
  • Perform activities of workers supervised.
  • Designate the loading and unloading area with the best possible security.
  • Prepare and/or review the load list
  • Plans daily production schedule.
  • Work with Rigging Coordinator to prepare labor requirements for move-in.
  • Supervise the following areas, ensuring that they are done properly:
    • Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved.
    • Attach pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms with bolts and clamps.
    • Attach load with grappling devices such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains to crane hook.
    • Give directions to Overhead Crane Operator or Hoisting Engineer engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and material handled.
    • Set up, brace, and rig hoisting equipment.
    • Splice rope and wire cables to make or repair slings and tackle.
    • Supervise and dispatch all work performed to ensure quality and safety; interpret company policies to workers.
  • Submit proper paperwork that is pertinent to billing.
  • Update production schedule and labor list for dismantle.
  • Ensure that all equipment is returned and broken, or damaged equipment is tagged for repair.
  • Communicate and reinforce company safety objectives, programs, and policies within the team. Ensure employees complete required training and understand their safety responsibilities.
  • Maintain compliance with company safety policies and applicable OSHA regulations.
  • Investigate and document workplace accidents, near misses, and hazards promptly, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Lead by example by encouraging open communication on safety concerns and fostering accountability for maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Track and review safety performance metrics, using insights to support decision-making and corrective actions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or 2 -5years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Skills in AutoCAD or equivalent preferred.
  • Working knowledge of workplace safety practices and applicable OSHA requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply and uphold safety policies, ensure compliance with regulations, and contribute to a proactive safety culture that reduces incidents and improves safety outcomes.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • ETCP Arena Rigging certification desired, Certified on CM hoist desired. Certificate of completion, boom lift & scissor lift. Certification card for industrial lift trucks & pallet jacks.
  • OSHA 30 Certification required.

Travel Requirements
Travel 25% to 50%
