Job description

Overview

Fort Wayne Metals has openings in the Northeast Indiana FAME program! To be considered for this position, please apply to https://neinfame.com/application/ and complete an application with Fort Wayne Metals.

NEINFAME focuses on developing critical professional skills while attending classes and earning an associate degree with education partner, Ivy Tech Community College Fort Wayne. Students will attend Ivy Tech classes two days a week and work onsite at Fort Wayne Metals three days a week. This two-year program is designed to prepare students for full-time employment as Advanced Manufacturing Technicians. Upon completion of the program, students have a high probability of no student debt, and the option to continue to earn a bachelor's degree. Anyone who will earn a high school diploma by June of 2027 and has a desire to gain hands-on, technical training is eligible to apply!

Education & Experience Requirements
  • Must obtain a high school diploma by June 2027
Job Responsibilities
  • Assist with the repair of equipment
  • Conduct preventative maintenance of equipment
  • Follow all safety principles and practices to ensure a safe work environment
  • Learn the role of Maintenance Technician and all of the duties
  • Assist in producing a quality product for our customers by having well-maintained equipment
  • Assist in ensuring all environmental protocols are followed and executed
  • Attend class and maintain successful progress toward an Associate's Degree
  • Familiarizing and learning about various aspects of the operation
  • Attend and lead safety meetings and toolbox talks
  • All other duties as assigned
Skills Needed
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Must have demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Safety awareness
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and eagerness to learn
  • Must have reliable transportation

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to access all areas of operation, including second floors
  • Sitting/standing for long periods of time
