About the Opportunity
This is an open position with the FirstEnergy Pennsylvania Electric Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.
Responsibilities include:
- Under direct supervision, tests, installs, maintains, and makes minor repairs on all makes and types of single-phase, self-contained watt-hour meters.
- Makes voltage and load tests.
- Investigates consumer complaints; correct the conditions or reports it to the proper authority.
- May be required to read, install or remove meters; reconnect and disconnect meters and
services, assist Field Testers 1st and 2nd Class or perform other related or less skilled work as
directed.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to perform semi-routine operations of considerable complexity and variety where standard methods of procedure are available.
- Must be a high school graduate with a good background in the sciences including Algebra, Plane and Solid Geometry, Trigonometry, and Physics, plus courses in electrical theory and electronics.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.

The required tests have been developed by the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), a trade association of investor-owned electric utility companies. We strongly encourage potential employees to review all information, including the sample test brochures, and to use the available practice tests before taking the actual tests.
