Job description

Responsible for the physical loading and unloading of packages in/out of a feeder aircraft, in addition to sorting of packages by hand in a safe and efficient manner.

Essential Functions:
  • Provides safe and efficient operation of equipment used for the movement of packages, documents and dangerous goods as related to the interface between feeder aircraft loading/unloading.

  • Regularly loads/unloads, lifts, carries, pushes and pulls packages. Utilizes “hand-to-surface” methods for all package handling. Loads and unloads packages onto or from feeder aircraft, delivery vehicles, trailers, pallets, conveyor system carts and load gratings.

  • Lifts, carries, pushes and pulls packages on a continuous and repetitive basis for approximate shift of 3-5 hours, with potential of working one or more shifts each day.

  • Determines the appropriate conveyor system by scanning packages, reading labels and charts, verifying numbers and memorizing information and sorting packages accordingly. 

  • Comply with all relevant safety policies, company policies and procedures. Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Education:
  • No education required

    Minimum Experience:
    • No experience required; six (6) months experience with FedEx preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Ability to understand and follow instruction regarding work duties and safety methods.

    • Ability to discern numbers and information in order to sort packages correctly.

    • Ability to communicate both timely and effectively. Proficiency in English, both verbal and written required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.

    • Able to lift 50 lbs. without assistance from the ground to chest level and to maneuver packages of any weight above 50 lbs. using appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person.

    • Able to walk, stand, bend and squat for designated work hours. Ability to maneuver packages in enclosed spaces, stack packages above one’s head and climb stairs or ladders if required at work location.

    • Must satisfactorily complete and maintain all company and government-regulated training, including STA clearance. Yearly training recertification is required.

    • Able to successfully complete all basic and re-currency training.

    Working Conditions:
    • Will need to work in hot and cold temperatures 

    • Will need to work in an environment with loud noise
