Job description

Our client is a leading provider of quantitative equity strategies for institutional clients with a prestigious global roster of corporate pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, foundations, and sub-advised funds. An innovative, team-oriented organization that welcomes intellectual curiosity, outside-the-box thinking, and practical problem solving. They're seeking a SQL Server Database Administrator to build and manage a best in class database platform for quantitative investment applications. Will also participate in application development efforts while assisting quantitative and data engineers.
  • 3 days a week in the office hybrid work environment.
  • $150K-$200K salary plus 20% bonus.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage database Disaster Recovery and High Availability for quantitative financial data, portfolio management, and trading databases
  • Install and upgrade the SQL Server database instances in all environments including but not limited to development, QA and Production
  • Design and develop quantitative investment applications, system interfaces, databases, and reporting as required to deliver new systems functionality
  • Perform data analysis, SQL optimization, database tuning, and general database reliability analysis
  • Proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure operations with minimum downtime
  • Collaborate with the development team throughout the system lifecycle, providing guidance on table design, index optimization, and SQL query best practices
  • Responsible for implementation and release of database changes as submitted by the development team
  • Apply security patches in accordance with approved maintenance schedules
  • Oversee data processing workflows and ensure proper monitoring
Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Proven 5+ years of SQL Server Database Administration experience
  • 5+ years of SQL development experience including packages, stored procedures, triggers, and scripting development in a multi-user production environment
  • Ability to understand requirements and support SQL deployment to multiple environments
  • Experience with SQL Server High Availability configurations and Disaster Recovery
Preferred:
  • Experience in Python or C or C++ is a plus
  • Familiarity with equity market data (S&P Global, Bloomberg, LSEG/Refinitiv, FactSet, etc.) is a plus
