Join EXL as a Data Platform Administrator - Help Us Power Smarter Healthcare Decisions

Are you passionate about data platforms and cloud technology? Do you thrive in dynamic environments where your expertise directly impacts healthcare outcomes? EXL is looking for an experienced Data Platform Administrator to join our Payment Integrity Services team. In this key role, you'll manage and optimize mission-critical databases that help identify and prevent healthcare overpayments-ultimately maintaining the servers at par.

What You'll Do:

As our Data Platform Administrator, you'll be the go-to expert for managing both on-premises and cloud-based SQL Server databases. Your day-to-day will include:

  • Managing Databases: Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot SQL Server 2016+ and Azure SQL Databases.
  • System Setup: Install, configure, upgrade, and patch SQL environments across both on-prem and Azure cloud.
  • Performance Optimization: Tune and optimize database performance to ensure speed and efficiency.
  • High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Implement solutions like AlwaysOn, Log Shipping, On-Prem Replication, Clustering, and Azure Geo-Replication.
  • Backup & Recovery: Develop and manage backup strategies and restore procedures to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
  • Monitoring & Alerts: Use tools like SSMS, Azure Monitor, and Log Analytics to proactively manage database health and performance.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to support projects and drive solutions.
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure HIPAA-compliant access controls, auditing, and data protection across platforms.
  • Cloud Migration: Help us transition legacy databases to the Azure cloud while maintaining business continuity.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation for configurations, standard operating procedures, and recovery plans.
  • Innovation & Learning: Stay ahead of the curve by keeping up with the latest trends in database and cloud technologies, especially those relevant to healthcare.

What You Bring:

We're looking for a seasoned professional who thrives on solving complex problems and making systems better.

  • Experience:
    • 7-10 years as a SQL Server Database Administrator (2016 and newer).
    • 3+ years managing Azure SQL databases in production environments.
  • Technical Strengths:
    • Strong background in backup/recovery, performance tuning, and HA/DR strategies.
    • Solid T-SQL development skills and experience with stored procedures, triggers, and SSIS packages.
    • Knowledge of replication, extended events, and hybrid cloud infrastructure.
    • Hands-on experience with tools like Azure Monitor, Azure Backup, Key Vault, and Security Center.
  • Healthcare Experience (a plus, but not required):
    • Familiarity with claims data, EHR/EMR systems, HIPAA regulations, and working with PHI.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
    • Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.
