An Infrastructure Project Manager (Infra PM) directs the planning, execution, and delivery of IT or physical infrastructure projects, such as data center builds, cloud migrations, network upgrades, or facility construction. They are responsible for managing budgets, defining schedules, allocating resources, mitigating risks, and coordinating cross-functional technical teams and vendors to ensure projects meet organizational goals.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
  • Project Planning and Definition: Defining project scope, goals, deliverables, and technical requirements, particularly regarding hardware, software, and networking needs.
  • Budget and Cost Control: Developing cost estimates, managing project budgets, and tracking expenditures to ensure financial targets are met.
  • Schedule and Resource Management: Creating detailed timelines, setting milestones, and optimizing resources (personnel, equipment, vendors) to prevent bottlenecks.
  • Risk Management: Identifying potential technical, financial, or regulatory risks and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Acting as the central point of contact for technical staff, executive leadership, and external vendors, providing regular status updates.
