Summary:
The Broadcast Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing regional NHL arena operations supporting Cosm's CXVH deliverable. This role will be partnered with league contacts, arena personnel, freelance technicians, and internal operations teams to ensure successful deployment, operation, and delivery of Cosm's camera systems for all assigned NHL games.
The Operations Manager will oversee the full capture workflow from arena setup through client delivery, ensuring consistent execution across NHL Hockey Operations, broadcast partners, and CXVH streams. This position is responsible for maintaining operational standards, supporting live events, managing technical documentation, resolving issues, and ensuring assigned arenas operate at the highest level.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily operations for assigned NHL arenas utilizing Cosm-deployed camera systems
  • Manage communication and coordination between arena technicians, league contacts, broadcast partners, and internal teams
  • Ensure all arena documentation, workflows, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) remain accurate and up to date
  • Support nightly Broadcast Operations Center (BOC) coverage, including camera QC, troubleshooting, and operational escalations
  • Monitor postgame technical reports, communicate issues to appropriate teams, and ensure resolution prior to future events
  • Investigate operational incidents, identify root causes, and implement process improvements to prevent repeated issues
  • Manage arena equipment readiness, including troubleshooting, inventory tracking, and coordinating replacement shipments as needed
  • Oversee onboarding and training of arena technicians to ensure proper execution of Cosm workflows and standards
  • Coordinate game schedules, technician assignments, and event call times
  • Provide onsite operational support for NHL games and special events as needed
  • Continuously evaluate workflows and identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and scalability

Experience:
  • 5-10 years of experience in live sports production, broadcast operations, or related technical operations roles
  • Strong understanding of remote production workflows and live broadcast environments
  • Knowledge of broadcast signal flow, including fiber, SDI, video routing, networking, and TCP/IP workflows
  • Experience configuring, operating, and troubleshooting broadcast camera systems
  • Ability to properly set up, shade, expose, and evaluate broadcast cameras
  • Experience with camera mounting, rigging, and venue installations
  • Comfortable working with Windows-based systems and technical applications
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to make decisions under live event pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams
  • Ability to manage multiple events, priorities, and stakeholders simultaneously
  • Passion for emerging technology, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Travel to arenas and event locations will be required as needed. Evening, weekends, and holiday availability is expected during the NHL season.

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Associate's, BA, or BS degree or higher in broadcast or related field.

All applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of employment. This requirement is in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local labor laws. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.
