JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a Senior QA Engineer with strong Android testing expertise to support a cutting-edge retail technology platform that combines mobile applications, embedded hardware, and proprietary firmware. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in Android testing, Android Debug Bridge (ADB), device-level troubleshooting, and end-to-end quality assurance. This role requires close collaboration with engineering teams to ensure high-quality, secure, and reliable product releases across software, hardware, and firmware ecosystems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead quality assurance efforts for Android-based retail technology solutions.
• Perform comprehensive manual testing of Android mobile applications across multiple devices and configurations.
• Validate functionality, usability, performance, and reliability of Android applications.
• Execute test plans and test cases covering mobile applications, embedded systems, firmware, and hardware integrations.
• Utilize Android Debug Bridge (ADB) for troubleshooting, diagnostics, logging, and device validation.
• Conduct device-level testing and identify issues impacting application functionality and performance.
• Validate integrations between Android applications, embedded hardware, and firmware components.
• Perform security, loss prevention, and reliability testing across platform components.
• Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects through resolution.
• Conduct root cause analysis and work closely with development teams to resolve issues.
• Serve as the primary QA owner for assigned product initiatives and releases.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Software Engineers, QA teams, and business stakeholders to ensure product quality.
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), product demonstrations, and customer validation activities as needed.
• Work closely with globally distributed engineering teams, including AI and Computer Vision teams.
• Contribute to process improvements, quality standards, and future test automation initiatives.
• Develop testing documentation, defect reports, test execution results, and quality metrics.
• Provide risk assessments and release readiness recommendations to project stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to quality assurance best practices and testing methodologies.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum 5 years of Quality Assurance experience with a strong focus on mobile application testing.
• Exceptional candidates with 3+ years of highly hands-on Android QA experience may be considered.
• Strong experience testing Android mobile applications.
• Hands-on experience with Android Debug Bridge (ADB).
• Experience performing Android device-level testing and troubleshooting.
• Experience validating applications across multiple Android devices and operating system versions.
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, defect management, and test execution practices.
• Experience creating test plans, test cases, and defect documentation.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to operate effectively in a highly technical engineering environment.
• Willingness to work onsite in New York City five days per week.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience testing embedded systems, hardware devices, or firmware solutions.
• Experience with Point-of-Sale (POS) systems or payment technologies.
• Experience with test automation tools and frameworks.
• Experience testing iOS mobile applications.
• Experience validating products that combine mobile software, hardware, firmware, and real-world user interactions.
• Experience working in retail technology environments.
• Exposure to Computer Vision, AI, or edge-device technologies.
• Experience supporting enterprise-grade mobile platforms and connected devices.
CERTIFICATIONS
• ISTQB Certified Tester preferred.
• Android Application Testing certifications preferred.
• Mobile Testing or QA Automation certifications are a plus.
