Job description

Position assists individuals experiencing or at-risk of homelessness who have mental illness and/or a co-occurring substance use disorder or other medical impairments apply for Social Security disability benefits through the SOAR (SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access and Recovery) process.
  1. Bachelor's degree in social work, education, psychology, sociology, nursing, family studies, early childhood development or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Two years' experience in human service delivery, counseling or in a community-based setting required. One-year experience working with families with mental illness or substance abuse preferred.
  3. Working knowledge of homeless management information system preferred.
  4. Preference given for qualified candidates who have lived experience of substance use disorder and/or homelessness.
  5. Experience with multi-cultural service delivery.
  6. Bilingual English/Spanish may be required in communities with high concentration of Hispanic families.
