Aquatics Assistant Head Coach of Competitive Swimming
Summary:
Under the supervision of the Head Coach of Competitive Swimming, the Assistant Head Coach of Competitive Swimming helps supervise the part time age group coaches for Columbia Aquatics Association (CAA) and Columbia Masters. They also help supervise the Columbia Neighborhood Swim League (CNSL) coaches in accordance with the values, purposes, and policies of the Columbia Association.
Essential functions:
  • Models and promotes professionalism, good sportsmanship, and the spirit of friendly competition Communicates effectively and appropriately with all CA team members, swimmers, parents, and volunteers
  • Possess a high skill level in personnel supervision, community relations, and customer service
  • Capable of working effectively in a team situation and independently
  • Coaches at least 2 practice groups (leads at least one) and ensures the safety and success of swimmers. Groups should have at least 15 hours a week of practice scheduled.
  • Assists with planning and running of hosted meets with the parent board; Participates in Parent Board meetings when the Head Coach cannot attend
  • Assists with the daily operations of the Columbia Neighborhood Swim League as needed

Additional responsibilities:
  • Helps provide a communications link between the parent board and general team membership
  • Participates in Maryland Swimming board meetings when the Head Coach is unable to attend
  • Maintains all necessary certifications for USA Swimming
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Maintains all necessary certifications for USA/MD Swimming
  • All Coaches need to know the Clippers Code of Conduct and review it at the start of each season with their swimmers.
  • All Clippers Swim Coaches must make themselves available for at least 4 swim meet sessions per month for the groups they coach. Some months you may do, more depending on the swim meet schedule

The salary range for this position is $55,000 to $60,000. The actual salary offered will depend on the overall qualifications of the individual applicant for the position and the budgeted amount for the role.
