The Bruker AXS-Electron Microscopy division currently has an opening for a Junior Software Developer to support the development of high-performance scientific instrumentation software. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with our engineers and scientists developing one of the most powerful commercial electron microscopes in the world, enabling cutting-edge materials science and microscopy research. The successful candidate will be part of a small, experienced team based in Kirkland, Washington working on the software integration of new and existing electronics control boards-from design and implementation to testing and deployment.This position is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career developer with a passion for learning and a strong interest in scientific or technical software. The role provides excellent scope for growth, mentorship, and technical challenge.

This position is full-time onsite located in Kirkland, WA. 

Responsibilities

Collaborate with electronics, hardware, and software teams to develop software support for new electronics boards for the microscope Write and maintain clean, reliable, and efficient code primarily in C++ Test new developments either locally on specific test rigs or directly on the electron microscopes Participate in pair programming, code reviews and design discussions with other software and electronics engineers Troubleshoot and fix bugs reported by engineers or uncovered during internal testing Contribute to documentation of new and existing designs

Qualifications

Required: Bachelors level degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field Proficiency in C++ Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a collaborative team Enthusiasm for solving real-world problems and working on long-term technical challenges

Desirable: Experience writing code interfacing to electronics Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., SVN), modern software development workflows A proactive positive attitude and enthusiasm for learning new tools, technologies, and scientific concepts A passion for Physics and supporting broader scientific research

At Bruker, base salary is part of our total compensation. The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is between $71,100 and $127,000 provides an opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base salary for the role will depend on several job-related factors, including, but not limited to education, training, experience, the geographic location of the successful candidate, skills, competencies, job-related knowledge and travel requirements for this position. Full-time employees may also be eligible for a performance-related incentive in addition to a full range of benefits including 401(k) with company match, an employee stock purchase plan, medical and dental plans, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, employee assistance program and paid time off including vacation, sick time and holidays, and more.
