Southfield, MI
BASF Coatings LLC is seeking a Customer Site Service Manager (CSSM) (Southfield, MI) to support the daily operation of BASF coatings products in customer automotive assembly plants by providing on-site technical and application oversight. Respond to customer requirements, enforce product quality/performance specification, and support new product/application development. Oversee product performance including color management, defect identification, process root causing and corrective actions implementation. Develop and support key customer relationships. Support the efforts of a BASF sales/technical team to assure value to the customer for product technical support, problem investigation, analysis, and resolution. Assure product performance meets or exceeds customer expectations and supports business growth objectives to be our customer's supplier of choice. Control key performance indicators within product service environments to drive problem resolution and product improvement initiatives critical to customer performance expectations. Use ability to train and mentor members of the team to ensure the customer is receiving the best possible service.
15% domestic travel required. Telecommuting permitted. Supervise 6 direct reports holding the job titles of Field Technical Service Representatives.
Job Requirements:
  • The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related, and five (5) years of experience in OEM Paint Application.
  • 15% domestic travel. Telecommuting permitted.
  • Experience must include the following:
    • All phases of the automotive paint application process, including quality, customer focus, and manufacturing
    • Providing on-site expertise in coatings products, their application, performance, and problem resolution as needed
    • Implementing action plans; tracking and updating customer metrics; and managing future plant production and new product introductions
    • Inventory, forecasting, billing, and ordering management for a CPU (cost per unit) business model
