As an R&D Mechanical Engineer,
  • You will demonstrate strong technical expertise, problem-solving capability, and engineering execution excellence.
  • You will contribute to the design, development, and improvement of new and existing products, impacting cost, performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to deliver optimized product solutions.
  • You will support innovation initiatives by researching emerging technologies and contributing to intellectual property development.

As an R&D Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for:
  • Product Design & Development: Executing the design and analysis of assigned projects using sound engineering principles, ensuring alignment with business standards, practices, and product/program requirements.
  • End-to-End Engineering Execution: Supporting product development from ideation through implementation, including design, prototyping, testing, refinement, and validation.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partnering with interdisciplinary teams to ensure designs meet requirements for manufacturability, quality, and performance.
  • Supplier Collaboration: Working with suppliers to refine designs for optimal cost, consistency, and production efficiency.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Analyzing complex technical challenges, prioritizing critical issues, and delivering effective solutions within required timelines.
  • Design Reviews & Quality Assurance: Participating in and conducting design reviews with a focus on requirements, FMEA, manufacturability, reliability, and supplier capability.
  • Innovation & Research: Supporting innovation efforts through evaluation of new technologies and contributing to patent reviews and submissions.
  • Documentation: Maintaining clear and accurate engineering documentation including design records, analysis reports, and validation results.

To be successful in this role, you will:
  • Have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Have a minimum of 1 year of experience in an engineering role, including exposure to new product introduction (NPI) processes.

Skills:
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals and product design principles.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a focus on results and customer value.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software and engineering drawing creation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

Work Environment:
  • Ability to work onsite regularly at the Skaneateles, NY facility.
  • Collaboration with global teams may require flexibility in working hours.

The annual pay scale for this position is between $75,760.00 - $1,40,660.00.
Candidates for this role (office-based/ hybrid/ remote) must be located in or near the locations displayed above. The pay range/scale displayed above represents Baker Hughes' good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum for this position at the time of this posting and applies to the possible locations for this position. Baker Hughes will issue a non-bias competitive offer; the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hires, full-time salaries in some U.S. locations, not including equity or benefits. Where an applicant will ultimately fall within the pay range/scale depends on a variety of factors, including, for example, geographic work location, skillset, qualifications, internal pay alignment, level of experience, and demonstrated performance over time. Please keep in mind that the range stated above is the full base salary range for the role and does not include other forms of compensation.
