Job Overview – Special Education Paraprofessional

Compensation: $23.70/hour + benefits (flexible based on experience)

Location: Brooklyn, NY


Atlantic Group is urgently hiring a Special Education Paraprofessional in Brooklyn, NY for our client, supporting K–12 students in a school-based classroom setting. This role provides 1:1 and small group support to students with special education, behavioral, developmental, and academic needs. Full-time, part-time, and per diem opportunities are available for candidates.


Responsibilities as the Special Education Paraprofessional:

  • Student Support: Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with academic and behavioral needs.
  • Classroom Assistance: Support teachers with instruction, classroom activities, and daily routines.
  • Behavioral Support: Assist with behavior management strategies and intervention plans.
  • Student Engagement: Encourage participation, focus, and positive social interaction in the classroom.
  • Documentation: Track student progress and communicate updates with teachers and school staff.


Qualifications for the Special Education Paraprofessional:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certification: Teacher Assistant (TA), Home Health Aide (HHA), or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience supporting children or individuals with special needs is required.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to provide classroom, behavioral, or one-on-one support while following instructional plans is required.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, school staff, and families are required.
