Job description

This job posting is for a position in a restaurant owned and operated by an independent franchisee and not McDonald's USA. This franchisee owns a license to use McDonald's logos and food products, for example, when running the restaurant. However, this franchisee is a separate company and a separate employer from McDonald's USA. If you are hired for the job described in this posting, the franchisee will be your employer, not McDonald's USA. Only the franchisee is responsible for employment matters at the restaurant, including hiring, firing, discipline, supervisions, staffing, and scheduling employees. McDonald's USA has no control over employment matters at the restaurant. Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Restaurant Maintenance Technician Level 3 to ensure the seamless operation and safety of our restaurant facilities. In this vital role, you will lead maintenance efforts, troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues, and perform preventative maintenance to keep all equipment running at peak performance. Your expertise will help create a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for both staff and guests, driving operational excellence through proactive service and leadership.
Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced repairs on restaurant equipment including refrigeration units, HVAC systems, and kitchen appliances, including grills, fryers, ovens, coffee makers and ice cream machines.
  • Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and electrical diagrams to diagnose issues accurately.
  • Lead maintenance projects involving construction, installation, or upgrades of mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections of HVAC/R systems, refrigeration units, and mechanical components to prevent breakdowns.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical, plumbing, and mechanical problems using diagnostic tools and technical knowledge.
  • Help train junior technicians, providing guidance on repair procedures and safety protocols.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, parts used, and system performance logs.

Qualifications and Certifications
  • Proven experience as a service technician with a strong background in appliance repair, HVAC/R systems, refrigeration, or mechanical maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to read schematics and technical diagrams accurately.
  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems-including air conditioning units-and refrigeration equipment.
  • Strong mechanical skills with experience in construction or equipment installation projects.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to work effectively while managing multiple tasks.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills combined with a proactive approach to maintenance.
  • Certifications in HVAC/R or refrigeration are mandatory; additional credentials in electrical or plumbing work are a plus. Vehicle Requirements and Licenses
  • Possess and maintain a valid IL state driver's license.
  • Must carry personal liability insurance coverage for your vehicle that meets or exceeds the state's minimums.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Provide MVR

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent communication skills in English - both oral and written.
  • Ability to comply with both JDD Investment's, McDonald's and client-directed Policies & Procedures.
  • Ability to complete work orders through company's "Upkeep" system.

Physical Work Abilities and Requirements
  • This position requires frequent walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, stooping, and working/extending overhead, including:
  • Lifting a minimum of 80 lbs.
  • Using ladders up to 30 ft and working from heights.
  • Climbing a ladder with a 300-lb weight limit while carrying a tool bag weighing approximately 20 lbs
