Job description

Adjunct Faculty (multiple openings)
Theatre
College of Arts and Sciences
Adjunct Instructor of Voice and Speech:
The department seeks a dynamic voice and speech instructor to teach undergraduate performance courses in vocal production, speech, and text work for actors.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Teach assigned voice and speech courses.
  2. Develop syllabi and learning outcomes aligned with department goals.
  3. Support student growth in vocal health, expressive range, and text analysis.
  4. Participate in occasional departmental meetings and student showcases as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Professional training and teaching experience in one or more of the following: Linklater Voice, Fitzmaurice Voicework, Miller Voice Method.
  2. Experience teaching undergraduate actors at varying skill levels.
  3. Ability to integrate vocal technique with performance practice and ensemble work.
  4. MFA or equivalent professional experience preferred.

Adjunct Instructor of Movement for Actors:
The department seeks a movement specialist to teach courses in physical actor training and embodied performance practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Teach movement courses for theater majors and/or musical theater students.
  2. Create engaging studio-based curricula emphasizing physical awareness and performance application.
  3. Collaborate with performance faculty when appropriate.
  4. Attend occasional departmental meetings and events.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Expertise in one or more of the following: Lecoq- based physical theater training, Clowning/Commedia, Viewpoints.
  2. Exposure in one or more of the following: Alexander Technique, Laban Movement Analysis, Suzuki.
  3. Demonstrated experience teaching movement to undergraduate performers.
  4. Ability to foster safe, inclusive, and exploratory studio environments.
  5. MFA or equivalent professional experience preferred.

Adjunct Instructor - Acting for Non-Majors
The department invites applications for an instructor to teach introductory acting courses designed for non-theater majors.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Teach introductory acting courses emphasizing creativity, confidence, collaboration, and communication.
  2. Foster an accessible and supportive classroom environment.
  3. Evaluate student participation and performance projects.
  4. Maintain regular communication with students and department leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Experience teaching introductory acting at the college or conservatory level.
  2. Strong communication and classroom facilitation skills.
  3. Ability to engage students from diverse academic backgrounds.
  4. Experience with devised work, improvisation, or applied theater is a plus.
  5. MFA or equivalent professional experience preferred.

SALARY INFORMATION:
In compliance with New York's Pay Transparency Act, the salary for this position is $1,937 per credit.
