Grinding Operator

As a Grinding Operator, you will work through Adecco for a manufacturing client in the Grinding Center, supporting a safe, efficient, and accurate grinding and warehouse operation. In this role, you will assist the grinding group with grinding fittings, joint restraints, and other items as needed, while maintaining a clean and safe work environment in the Grinding Booths, warehouse, and yard. You will handle castings and fittings, use hand tools and grinding tools, and operate pneumatic air equipment to meet quality and productivity expectations. This position reports to the Grinding Supervisor and requires consistent physical activity, including lifting, standing, and using a pallet jack during a 10-hour shift. You will help ensure accurate inspection, packaging, and housekeeping to support reliable service for both customers and coworkers.

Benefits
  • The position offers hourly pay of $18 on a full-time, first-shift schedule from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

  • The role is classified as full-time hourly and non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act guidelines.

  • Overtime work and weekend work may occasionally be required based on business needs.

  • Some Saturdays will be mandatory when required to meet business and production needs.

  • The employer is an Equal Opportunity Employer, providing equal consideration for all qualified applicants.

What You Will Do?
  • Grind castings, fittings, joint restraints, and other items as needed, following established procedures and quality standards consistently.

  • Use hand tools, grinding tools, and pneumatic air equipment safely while working on castings and fittings throughout the shift.

  • Maintain Grinding Booths, warehouse, and yard areas in a clean, orderly, and safe condition through regular housekeeping activities.

  • Inspect products for accuracy and quality, then package products according to established company standards and requirements.

  • Wear proper personal protective equipment, including goggles and a respirator, while working in the grinding booth and grinding area.

  • Sweep floors, operate the floor scrubber, and collect and dispose of trash from Grinding Booths, the warehouse, and the yard regularly.

  • Inspect bins, equipment, and warehouse areas for safety issues and take appropriate safety precautions while following company guidelines.

  • Communicate equipment damage, incidents, safety concerns, or other operational issues promptly to management for follow-up.

  • Lift, move, and carry materials up to 45 pounds, frequently during a 10-hour shift, while remaining on your feet.

  • Perform additional tasks and other duties as assigned to support grinding operations, warehouse functions, and overall production needs.

Your Skills
  • High school diploma or GED, with 1–3 years of experience completing warehouse tasks in an industrial or similar environment.

  • Experience with castings and fittings, including prior grinding experience in castings and fittings in a production or manufacturing environment.

  • Proficiency using hand tools, grinding tools, and pneumatic air equipment safely and effectively throughout a full shift.

  • Excellent situational awareness and attention to detail, with the ability to inspect products and environments accurately.

  • Ability to prioritize work effectively, communicate clearly and concisely, and collaborate well as part of a team.

  • Basic computer experience and the ability to follow documented standards, procedures, and instructions reliably and consistently.

  • Knowledge of 6s and Lean Manufacturing principles applied in a warehouse or production setting when organizing work areas.

  • Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, crouch, kneel, bend, and climb on and off a fork truck repeatedly during a 10-hour shift.

  • Capability to push and pull up to 300 pounds with a pallet jack and use wrists and hands frequently during extended periods.

  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including a respirator, for extended periods and work in various climate conditions.
