Job description

Highlights of your role:

Performing phlebotomy and pre-analytical phase of clinical laboratory practice. Phlebotomist also performs limited laboratory procedures according to CLIA guidelines for Waived lab testing, which require the limited exercise of independent judgment and interpretation. Procedures performed are: Whole blood Glucose, Hemoglobin, Routine urinalysis (dipstick), Occult blood test, Rapid strep A test for Waived lab, Rapid Mono for Waived Lab, and Rapid Pregnancy testing on urine sample approved for Waived lab.

*Pay Range: $18.85-$24.50

*It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case and on several factors including relevant work experience, education, certification & licensure, and internal equity. Hourly pay is just one part of the compensation package for employees.

 

What you’ll get to do in this role:

Follows established procedures for collection and processing biological specimens for analysis.

Performs assigned analytical tests or procedures that are CLIA Waived.

Recognizes factors that affect measurement and results and take appropriate action according to predetermined protocols.

Communicates information such as test results, reference ranges and specimen requirements to appropriate staff.

Performs routine quality control and maintain accurate records.

Attends laboratory and/or organizational meetings and in-services to allow for effective communication and training.

Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physiological, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to neonates, infants, toddlers, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Knowledge to provide such care is gained through education, training and experience.

Performs additional duties deemed appropriate by the Department Director in relation with laboratory functions; such as data gathering for research, correlation studies for new methodology, education/demonstration for new employees and students interesting in this field, keeping the work environment clean, etc.
