Role Description: The Per Diem Clinician is a part-time, on-site role based in Wallingford/Cheshire, CT, providing direct clinical services to children, adolescents, and families. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting intakes and psychosocial assessments, developing treatment plans, and delivering individual and group counseling using appropriate therapeutic modalities. The clinician will maintain accurate and timely documentation, including progress notes and treatment updates, in accordance with agency and regulatory standards and may include play therapy, somatic-based therapies, nature therapy, and animal-assisted psychotherapy. The role also involves collaborating with caregivers, schools, and other providers to coordinate care; participating in case consultations or team meetings as needed; and responding to client needs in a flexible, trauma-informed manner. Per diem scheduling may vary based on client demand, and the clinician is expected to uphold professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical practice.

Qualifications

  • Licensed or license-eligible mental health professional (e.g., LMSW/LCSW; LPCA/LPC; LMFTA (would need outside supervision); psychologist in the state of Connecticut); or advanced graduate-level training in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated experience providing clinical services to children, adolescents, young adults, and families, including assessment, treatment planning, and delivery of evidence-informed interventions. Carrying a caseload of at least 5; may work toward full-time, defined as 28 clinical hours a week; some benefits offered once you reach 20 clinical hours.
  • Strong skills in trauma-informed care, crisis management, and risk assessment, with the ability to respond effectively to clients with complex needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills for working with clients, families, schools, and community partners.
  • Ability to maintain accurate clinical documentation, manage time effectively, and work independently while adhering to agency policies and ethical standards. Supervision toward clinical hours provided at no cost
  • Commitment to culturally responsive and gender-neutral, non-discriminatory practice, including serving diverse populations with respect and sensitivity.
  • Familiarity with community mental health settings, school-based services, or similar environments is preferred. Interest in eco-therapy, animal-assisted therapy, play therapy, and somatic-based therapies like sandtray therapy, and EMDR.
  • Availability to work per diem hours on-site in the Wallingford, CT, office, the Cheshire therapeutic barn, and one location in Litchfield County, including some afternoons or early evenings as client needs require.
