What is a light duty job?

Light duty jobs refer to work assignments that are physically less demanding than regular job tasks, often tailored for employees recovering from an injury or medical condition. These roles typically involve reduced lifting, limited standing or walking, and avoidance of strenuous physical activities. Employers provide light duty tasks to help employees stay productive and ease back into their regular duties while minimizing the risk of re-injury. Examples can include administrative work, inventory management, or monitoring tasks. Light duty assignments are usually temporary and based on medical recommendations.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a light duty cleaner?

To thrive as a Light Duty Cleaner, you generally need attention to detail, reliability, and a basic understanding of cleaning techniques, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with cleaning equipment, safe chemical handling, and sometimes WHMIS certification are typically required. Good time management, strong work ethic, and effective communication help individuals excel in this role. These skills and qualities ensure cleanliness standards are met efficiently and safely, contributing to a healthy and pleasant environment.

What are common challenges faced by employees in light duty positions, and how can they be managed?
