The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Boise State University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position. The successful candidate will contribute to the department's teaching mission with primary teaching responsibilities in freshman and sophomore courses with the possibility of upper-division courses within their area of disciplinary expertise. Course assignments will include general chemistry and may also include discipline-specific courses that align with departmental needs and the candidate's background. Summer teaching opportunities may be available for additional compensation.

Lecturers teach four courses per semester and are integral members of the department's instructional team. The department is committed to delivering high-quality, engaging undergraduate education and values innovative, evidence-based teaching practices that promote student learning and success. These practices may include active learning strategies, the use of modern laboratory instrumentation, and technology-enhanced instruction.

The department also supports professional development and participation in initiatives that strengthen teaching effectiveness and enhance the student experience.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry offers Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Chemistry. Our faculty members conduct research in areas such as drug discovery, medicinal chemistry and medical devices, cosmochemistry, prebiotic chemistry, archaeological science, computational chemistry, enzymology and enzyme mechanisms, RNA and protein chemistry, and polymer chemistry. Our faculty members participate in transdisciplinary programs and mentor M.S. and Ph.D. students in transdisciplinary programs including Materials Science and Engineering, Biomolecular Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, and Computing.

• Master's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemistry education, science education, or a closely related field. Candidates whose graduate degree is in an education-related field must also hold a bachelor's degree in chemistry or biochemistry

• Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, chemistry education, science education, or a closely related field
• Experience teaching general chemistry
• Experience developing and teaching online chemistry courses
• Experience using evidence-based instructional practices
• Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate student success
• Experience using modern laboratory instrumentation or technology-enhanced teaching methods

Salary ranges from $56,000 to $61,000 and is commensurate with experience

Our standard faculty contract is a 9-month contract (unless otherwise noted) with pay and benefits spread over 12 months. This is a yearly, renewable contract, unless noted that the position is temporary. More information about faculty contract and work days is available here.
