Job description:

On Line Design is currently seeking a full-time Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) Chemist, to work on-site in Hebron, KY. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the development of chemical compounds, micro-encapsulation methods or processing methods as well as validating methods and correlating results for flavor products.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop an understanding of low temperature microencapsulation on retention of volatile compounds and stability thereof
  • Support the development of microencapsulation or process engineering developments, to improve product performance
  • Help the product development team (food and beverage) in development and analysis of finished products
  • Develop and document novel extraction methods with proven and robust validation methods
  • Utilize results to develop and document cohesive storylines for publication to customers, product and process development, or QC teams, among others
  • Assist in the resolution of quality control concerns
  • Explore new areas for formulation or process improvement for product quality


Qualifications:

  • Strong background in GC-MS operation and results generation with flavors
  • Demonstrated history of extraction methods development and method validation
  • Ability to translate data from analysis into design of products or processes with other scientists / engineers
  • Hands-on experimental design and testing experience a must
  • Experience with parallel testing methods (water activity, loss on drying, FTIR, emulsion droplet and powder particle sizing, viscosity)
  • Understanding of organic / physical chemistry, to develop and connect generated results to process or formulation
  • Experience in formulation development, emulsions and production of encapsulated products
  • BS, MS, PhD in Food or Analytical Chemistry or related science
  • 5 years + of relevant experience
