Job Description:

Department/Program: Biology Department

Subject area: Anatomy and Physiology

Description of position: The Department of Biology is seeking a qualified candidate to teach our first-year anatomy and physiology courses (i.e. BIOL 1190 and 1191) as well as one or more of the following upper-level biology courses: pathophysiology and/or organismal or invertebrate biology.


Please submit your cover letter, CV, and a teaching philosophy statement.

Duties will include:
Preparation and delivery of the curriculum
Maintaining office hours and availability to consult with students
Evaluating student performance
Attending meetings in the Department and College

Education and Experience:
Minimum MSc in Biology, but PhD preferred
Post-secondary teaching experience in Biology preferred

Skills and Abilities:
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
Excellent understanding of and ability to teach fundamental concepts in biology
Demonstrated application of current biological and pedagogical practices
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to offer, accept, and implement constructive feedback
Ability to exercise a high level of initiative and responsibility
Ability to effectively address complex challenges using tact and discretion
Ability to interact with students in a respectful, professional, and engaging manner
Ability to communicate effectively with people who have limited English language proficiency
High level of attention to detail
Ability to foster collegial working relationships

Appointment: Temporary, full-time position

Length of appointment: *September 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026, with one month preparation time. There is a possibility for renewal upon positive evaluation.
