Job Title: Yoga / Zumba / Dance Fitness Instructor (Part-Time)

Department: Wellness Center
Schedule: Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings; or Saturday mornings
Status: Part-Time

Position Summary

We are seeking an energetic, reliable, and certified fitness professional to lead group exercise classes such as Yoga, Zumba, or other dance-based fitness formats for community participants of varying fitness levels. The instructor will create a welcoming, safe, and motivating environment while delivering engaging classes that promote overall wellness and physical activity.

This position offers a rewarding opportunity to promote health and wellness within the community while working a flexible, part-time schedule.

Requirements:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead safe, effective, and engaging group fitness classes
  • Modify exercises to accommodate different fitness levels and physical limitations
  • Provide clear instruction, demonstrations, and encouragement to participants
  • Ensure participant safety by following proper warm-up, cool-down, and technique guidance
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and motivating class environment
  • Arrive early to set up and remain after class for participant questions
  • Communicate equipment or facility needs to the coordinator
  • Adhere to all facility policies and safety guidelines

Required Qualifications

  • Current certification in a recognized fitness discipline (Yoga, Zumba, Dance Fitness) or a general Group Fitness/Personal Training certification
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification (current)
  • Prior experience teaching group fitness classes preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate and engage participants of all ages and abilities
  • Reliable transportation and punctuality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with beginners and mixed-level groups
  • Additional specialty fitness certifications
  • Experience teaching in community, wellness, or healthcare settings

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to demonstrate fitness movements and remain active for the duration of class
  • Ability to lift/move equipment up to 25 lbs
  • Ability to stand, bend, stretch, and move continuously during instruction

Work Environment

Classes are conducted in a group fitness or multipurpose room. Music, movement, and moderate noise levels are expected during class times.

Compensation
