Concord, New Hampshire (Hybrid - Primarily Remote)

Hours may increase during outbreaks or public health emergencies. Primarily remote work, On-site presence required at: Concord, NH
Travel within New Hampshire may be required. 24/7 availability for urgent zoonotic consultations required
We're seeking a licensed veterinarian with public health expertise to serve as the State's Subject Matter Expert (SME) for zoonotic diseases. This contracted role will support statewide disease prevention, surveillance, and outbreak response efforts using a One Health approach that integrates human, animal, and environmental health. This is a part-time, contract position in which the selected veterinarian performs the services, while the awarded vendor maintains contractual responsibility and payroll accountability.
Serve as the State's primary SME for zoonotic diseases
Support outbreak investigations and emergency response
Provide consultation within 24 hours for high-priority cases
Assist in disease surveillance, monitoring, and trend analysis
Develop and review SOPs, response plans, and One Health protocols
Provide training and technical guidance to public health and animal health partners
Coordinate with state, federal, and local agencies (agriculture, wildlife, public health)
Support public health communications and media inquiries
