Job description

Purchasing Manager

Russo Modular – Phoenix, Arizona

Russo Modular is one of Arizona's fastest-growing commercial modular building manufacturers, specializing in the design and manufacture of restaurants, coffee shops, and custom commercial modular applications throughout the western United States.

As our company continues to grow, we are making significant investments in our purchasing, inventory management, and job costing systems using the Zoho platform. We are looking for an experienced Purchasing Manager who wants to play a key role in building a best-in-class purchasing operation that supports our continued growth.

This is more than a purchasing position—it is an opportunity to help improve processes, build vendor relationships, and contribute to the operational excellence of a rapidly expanding manufacturing company.

Position Summary

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for sourcing and purchasing the materials required to manufacture commercial modular restaurants, coffee shops, and custom modular projects. This position works closely with Accounting, Inventory Control, Project Management, Production, and Receiving to ensure materials are purchased at competitive prices, delivered on time, accurately received, and available to support production schedules.

We are seeking a purchasing professional who enjoys negotiating with suppliers, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and continuously improving purchasing processes.

While experience purchasing construction materials is preferred, it is not required. Candidates with purchasing experience in manufacturing, industrial, fabrication, distribution, or other production environments are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and purchase materials, equipment, and supplies required for commercial modular manufacturing.
  • Continuously solicit competitive pricing and negotiate favorable pricing, delivery terms, and service with vendors.
  • Create, issue, and manage purchase orders using Zoho Inventory and Zoho Books.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers while identifying qualified alternative vendors.
  • Coordinate with Receiving to ensure all deliveries are verified, documented, and accurately entered into inventory.
  • Work closely with Accounting to resolve purchase order, receiving, and vendor invoice discrepancies.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure materials are available to support production schedules.
  • Analyze purchasing trends and identify opportunities to reduce material costs without compromising quality.
  • Assist with inventory cycle counts and inventory accuracy initiatives.
  • Support production by ensuring materials are available when needed while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor files, and documentation.
  • Promote continuous improvement throughout the purchasing process.

Help Build Our Next-Generation Inventory System

Russo Modular is implementing a modern inventory management system designed to provide real-time visibility into materials throughout the manufacturing process. As Purchasing Manager, you will play an important role in helping improve and maintain these systems.

Current initiatives include:

  • Standardizing the purchase order process for all material purchases.
  • Improving vendor pricing through competitive sourcing and supplier management.
  • Implementing barcode and QR code inventory tracking.
  • Digitizing receiving processes with electronic Bills of Lading and supporting documentation.
  • Improving inventory accuracy through routine cycle counts and warehouse organization.
  • Tracking materials from receipt through production.
  • Developing real-time purchasing and inventory reporting.
  • Integrating purchasing, inventory, accounting, and production through Zoho Inventory, Zoho Books, and Zoho Creator.
  • Supporting accurate project costing by ensuring materials are properly purchased, received, and tracked.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of purchasing or procurement experience.
  • Proven experience creating and managing purchase orders.
  • Experience receiving materials and reconciling vendor shipments.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate competitive pricing with suppliers.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Strong computer skills and experience using ERP or inventory management software.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Purchasing experience within manufacturing, commercial construction, industrial fabrication, or distribution.
  • Experience purchasing construction materials such as steel, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or finish materials is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Zoho Books, Zoho Inventory, or similar ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of inventory control and warehouse operations.
  • Experience supporting production scheduling and material planning.
  • Experience participating in process improvement initiatives or ERP implementations is highly desirable. Candidates who enjoy building systems, improving workflows, and driving operational excellence will thrive in this role.

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate is someone who:

  • Enjoys negotiating and finding cost savings.
  • Builds strong vendor relationships.
  • Is organized and detail-oriented.
  • Thinks proactively and solves problems before they affect production.
  • Continuously looks for opportunities to improve processes.
  • Works well across multiple departments.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Wants to grow with a rapidly expanding company.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $65,000–$80,000 annually, depending on experience.

Russo Modular offers a competitive benefits package, including:

  • Medical Insurance
  • Dental Insurance
  • Vision Insurance
  • Employer-paid Life Insurance
  • 401(k) with employer matching
  • Paid Time Off
  • Paid Holidays
