Requirements
- License: Valid state license required; compact license must be in hand at submission
- Certifications: BLS
- Years of experience: At least 2 years, with a minimum of 1 year of travel RN experience required
- EMR: Epic
- Unit-specific skills:
- PICC: consults, placement (day only), removal, tip confirmation (CXR, IC-ECG, TCS, ultrasound)
- Ultrasound-guided peripheral IV insertion
- Central line care: dressing changes, blood draws, CLABSI prevention, device stabilization
- Phlebotomy, site selection/assessment, patient education
- Recognition/management: pneumothorax, embolism, hematoma, sepsis, extravasation
Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert nursing care in vascular and PICC placements.
- Conduct consultations and assess patients' needs related to IV therapy.
- Perform ultrasound-guided peripheral IV insertions and central line care.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient care.
- Educate patients on IV therapy and related procedures.
- Monitor patients for potential complications and manage as needed.
