What is a Zero Hour Health worker?

A Zero Hour Health worker is typically someone employed on a 'zero hour contract' within the health sector, meaning they do not have guaranteed hours and are only paid for the hours they work. These workers often provide flexible support in healthcare settings such as hospitals, care homes, or community health services. Zero hour health workers can include roles like healthcare assistants, nurses, or support staff. The arrangement offers flexibility for both the worker and the employer but may also mean less job security and fewer employment benefits.

In healthcare, roles such as physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists often report high job satisfaction due to meaningful patient interactions and positive outcomes. These jobs typically offer regular hours, autonomy, and opportunities for personal impact, contributing to overall happiness in the profession.
