Position Summary


The YWCA Therapist provides professional mental health counseling services to clients experiencing emotional, behavioral, relationship, trauma-related, and psychological challenges. The therapist works within a trauma-informed framework to support individuals, families, and groups, helping clients achieve greater emotional well-being and stability. The position collaborates with community partners and internal programs to promote healing, empowerment, and self-sufficiency.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy services.
  • Conduct comprehensive behavioral health assessments and develop treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with agency, state, and licensing requirements.
  • Provide crisis intervention and safety planning when necessary.
  • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions and trauma-informed practices.
  • Monitor client progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate.
  • Coordinate services with case managers, medical providers, schools, courts, and community agencies.
  • Participate in clinical supervision and case consultation as required.
  • Assist clients in identifying resources and support systems within the community.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards, confidentiality requirements, and professional licensing regulations.
  • Support the YWCA mission of eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
Qualifications


Education

  • Master's degree in social work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.


Experience
  • Minimum 1-2 years of clinical counseling experience preferred.
  • Experience working with trauma survivors, domestic violence victims, sexual assault survivors, children, and families preferred.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and evidence-based treatment modalities.
  • Experience with crisis intervention and risk assessment preferred.

  • Strong understanding of mental health diagnoses and treatment planning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
