Job description

Company: Yumi Ice Cream Co., Inc

Location: San Antonio

Position Title: HVAC Master Ammonia/Freon Technician

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing ammonia refrigeration on commercial low-temperature coolers & freezers.
  • Ensure continued production operation as it relates to refrigeration equipment.
  • Dismantle malfunctioning system and test components using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic testing equipment
  • Responds to emergency Calls regarding refrigeration systems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical demands with activity or conditions that require considerable time include sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and carrying products.
  • Ability to frequently lift or move 75 lbs.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures ranging from -40 to 100+ degrees.
  • Ability to work from elevated catwalks, aerial lift platforms, ladders, and scissor lift
  • Must be able to grip a minimum of 45 lbs. with each hand

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidate must have at least 5 years of experience in refrigeration and HVAC and utility equipment/systems operation, repair, and maintenance. (RETA Certification - CARO and CIRO)
  • EPA refrigerant recovery certification.
  • HAZMAT training certification preferred.
  • Must be able to work in -40 to 100+ degree temperatures.
  • Must be able to provide own hand tools.
  • Must have working knowledge of Process Safety Management program (PSM) relative to Ammonia Refrigeration Systems
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • Must have a valid Texas Drivers License and 5 years of driving experience
  • Some travel required.
  • No visible tattoos or piercings permitted while in the workplace
  • Smoke- & Vape-Free Workplace
  • Contingent upon the successful completion of a company-initiated and approved background check and motor vehicle report (MVR), drug screen, physical, and human performance evaluation (HPE)
