Job Summary Deputy District Attorney l I Hiring Range: $8,488 - $9,337 / Mo. + Benefits Deputy District Attorney II Hiring Range: $9,378 - $10,316 / Mo. + Benefits Deputy District Attorney III Hiring Range: $10,362 - $11,399 / Mo.

Possesses a passion for justice, a love of mercy, and an attitude of humility. Demonstrates strong legal writing and oral advocacy skills. Shows a commitment to protecting public safety through the rule of law.

Experienced prosecutors will have a record of trying complex cases and building a reputation for professional excellence and compassion. Takes initiative and manages responsibilities effectively, while demonstrating excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Represents the People on behalf of the District Attorney with dedication, fairness, and respect for the law.

Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee further participation in selection procedures. Deputy District Attorney I MINIMUM: Possession of a Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited school of law. PREFERRED: In addition to the above minimum, relevant professional experience as an attorney, law clerk, or legal intern.

Deputy District Attorney II MINIMUM: Possession of a Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited school of law and one (1) year of professional experience as an attorney in the practice of law. PREFERRED: In addition to the above minimum, additional years of relevant professional experience as an attorney, law clerk, or legal intern. Deputy District Attorney III MINIMUM: Possession of a Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited school of law and four (4) years of professional experience as an attorney in the practice of law.

PREFERRED: In addition to the above minimum, additional years of relevant professional experience as an attorney, law clerk, or legal intern. Licensing and Certification: The ability to obtain a valid California Class C driver's license within ten (10) days of employment; maintain throughout employment. Prior to a conditional job offer at I-level: must have an active membership (in good standing) in the State Bar of California; maintain throughout employment.

Be a member in good standing of the California State Bar Association. (NOTE: Recent law school graduates, who have taken the California Bar Exam and not yet received their results, may participate in a recruitment/examination process). Special Requirements: Must successfully complete an extensive and thorough background investigation, which includes Live Scan fingerprinting required prior to hire.

Occasionally attend meetings and communicate outside of normal working hours. Occasionally travel overnight for work or training. Will be required to perform disaster service activities pursuant to Government Code 3100-3109.

About the District Attorney's Office: The District Attorney represents the People in court as the public prosecutor, working with the Sheriff and other law enforcement agencies to keep the community safe. The District Attorney does this by suppressing criminal behavior through ethical prosecution, fostering trust in the rule of law, and supporting victims of crime. Once a law enforcement agency completes an investigation into a crime committed in Yuba County, it refers to the Yuba County District Attorney for prosecution.

Yuba County District Attorney's Office receives over 4,000 new case referrals each year from law enforcement agencies, including the Yuba County Sheriff's Department, Marysville Police Department, Wheatland Police Department, California Highway Patrol, Department of Fish and Game, Yuba County Probation, and many others.
