Job description

Job Title: Parish Youth Ministry Coordinator, part-time (30 hrs./wk.)

Reporting to:DRE and/or Pastor

Location: St. Joseph Catholic Church |Bradenton, FL

Classification: Salaried/Exempt

Overview

The Youth Ministry Coordinator is responsible for the planning of programming aimed at invigorating the Catholic identity of youth from grades 6-12, under the supervision of the Director of Religious Education and the Pastor

Job responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the planning and development of youth programs to meet both short- and long-term goals by organizing, administering and coordinating all Youth Ministry activities.
  • Fulfill administrative requirements of the position such as, requesting permission for special events, providing reports on student participation, requesting funds and turning in expense documentation in a timely manner, complying with registration policies and necessary forms.
  • Maintain frequent open communication with the DRE and the Diocese of Venice and Youth Ministry Office.
  • Coordinate volunteer groups, chaperones for weekly youth group meetings and events. To include annual fundraising event(s) especially the Rummage Sale.
  • Promote and attend annual Diocesan Youth Rally, Youth Enrichment Day and any meetings sponsored by the Diocese of Venice.
  • Promote and attend youth summer camp(s) / conferences.
  • Visit middle school students at St. Joseph School, & after school events to promote Households of Faith program and encourage participation in Youth Ministry.
  • Use creative means to plan, organize and implement a range of social medial programs.
  • Contribute to and regularly update external social sites such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc. Collaborate with St Joseph School Social Media coordinator.
  • Programming should incorporate the components of youth ministry as directed by the USCCB.
  • Obtain approval of Pastor/ DRE/Business Manager for all off-premises events or special events and obtain required documents.
  • Assist with Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation according to the Sacramental Preparation Guidelines of the Diocese of Venice with Pastor and DRE.
  • Establish meaningful one on one outreach to Catholic teens per diocesan guidelines, with the assistance of adult leaders.
  • Continue professional development in Theology and Youth outreach.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
