Youth Program Volunteer Assistant

Support local youth and gain experience in education or social services!

Location: Tacoma Rescue Mission - Family Campus

Schedule: Tuesdays or Thursdays, 4:30-7:30 PM (September-June)

Commitment: Once a week for 6-week sessions (recurring options available)

Age Requirement: 16+

Do you enjoy working with children and want to make a positive impact in your community? Join the Youth Department at the Tacoma Rescue Mission as a Youth Program Volunteer Assistant!

We're seeking reliable and caring individuals to support our evening youth programming for children aged six and above. As an assistant, you'll work directly with our volunteer instructors and staff to help facilitate fun, skill-building activities, such as art, music, STEM, sports, and more!

You won't need to lead the class yourself, but your help in setting up, engaging with the kids, and encouraging participation is essential to making each session successful.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the lead instructor during a 20-30 minute lesson or activity
  • Help with setup and cleanup of materials and space
  • Encourage and engage youth participants during the session
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment
