Range Explanation:

  • Hiring Range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.

  • Pay Range is the entire compensation range for the position.

This full-time permanent position with Community & Workforce Development Youth Division will provide services for the Pima County Youth Employment Center, compassionately and urgently serving youth ages 14-24, who face barriers to education, training, employment and working directly with the summer youth programs.

The Community & Workforce Specialist II position is located at the Pima County Youth One-Stop Center, 175 W Irvington Rd, Tucson AZ 85714 and is an 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (Monday - Friday) position.

Community & Workforce Development Department works with vulnerable populations and minors. A Level one Fingerprint Clearance Card, a Criminal History Self Disclosure Affidavit, and a Central Registry background check are requirements for employment.

Essential Functions:


As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, this classification may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. Work assignments may vary depending on the department's need and will be communicated to the applicant or incumbent by the supervisor.

  • Participates in the day-to-day operational and support activities of a specialized, complex functional program or work unit within the Community & Workforce Development Department;

  • Provides direct services urgently and compassionately to Community & Workforce Development clients, which may include working with clients via phone, email, online, or in person, including collaboration with other agencies and organizations to maximize resources and services;

  • Assesses the needs of community members and provides guidance on appropriate resources based on individual needs;

  • Matches qualified candidates with resources, coaching, or support related to employment, education, or financial assistance;

  • Represents the program or work unit at community events and in meetings with County personnel and/or community partners;

  • Provides administrative and other support essential to the completion of program or work unit objectives, including mentoring and leading staff and volunteers in specialized program activities;

  • Provides input to management in the development of program goals and objectives;

  • Manages and maintains accurate records of program participants and their progress;

  • Responsible for other duties as assigned in support of the overall goals and functions of both the Community & Workforce Development Department and Pima County.


Minimum Qualifications:


Associates degree from an accredited college, university or technical school in management, public or business administration or a field related as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment AND one year of professional experience in health, customer service, human services, or a closely related field.


OR:


One year of experience with Pima County as a Community and Workforce Specialist I or similar Pima County position, as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.

(Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)

  • Minimum one (1) year experience working with and assisting job seekers.

  • Minimum one (1) year experience providing support services and community resources to the public.

  • Minimum one (1) year experience in data entry.

  • Minimum one (1) year experience delivering education or workforce services to at-risk youth, high school dropouts, and in-school youth ages 14-24.

Selection Procedure:
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources.Additionalassessments/testing may berequiredas part of the selection process.

The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review todetermineapplicant's suitability tooperatecounty vehiclesin accordance withPima County administrative procedures. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services' review and approval of the candidate's driving record.

Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County.
